Shivakumar on Tuesday (September 1, 2026) said the proposal could be reviewed and discussed again in the Karnataka Legislature Assembly. The Karnataka Government Parks (Preservation) (Amendment) Bill, 2026, passed in both Houses of the Legislature on August 24, 2026, aims to facilitate the tunnel road project to take over an acre of Lalbagh land, sources said. This has been followed by protests by environmental groups, citizen organisations and Bengaluru BJP MPs. 2. Justice Suraj Govindaraj passed the order while partly allowing a petition filed by surfer Ramesh Budihal of Keralam, who challenged his exclusion from the main contingent.3. Mangaluru police arrest Keralam man who had been conning people for 25 years as a copThe Central Crime Branch of Mangaluru City Police arrested Sam Peter, who had been absconding after securing bail in September 2023, for offences of cheating and fraud committed while posing as an officer/director of the National Crime Investigation Bureau (NCIB). He was arrested in Kannur in Keralam on August 31.Mangaluru Police Commissioner said that Peter was last arrested along with eight of his associates, from a lodge at Pumpwell on August 16, 2019. He secured bail in September 2023 and, after that, could not be traced. Red corner notices issued prior to his arrest in 2019 were withdrawn while courts issued many proclamations after he went missing in 2023, the Commissioner said.
