Kambala will be held as part of Mysuru Dasara on October 18-19Kambala, the popular coastal traditional sport involving a race of buffaloes in slushy field, will be featured in this year’s Mysuru Dasara on October 18 and October 19, said Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai on September 25, 2026, after holding a meeting with representatives of owners of buffaloes taking part in the Kambala in Mysuru Dasara.He said the race will be held at the newly created 147-meter ‘Kare’ (slushy field) near the VTU College campus in Mysuru. The Kare will be named as ‘Vijaya Dashami’. Nearly 160 pairs of junior and senior pairs of buffaloes, selected by the Mysuru Dasara Kambala organising committee, will take part in the Kambala that starts on October 18. The events will go on till October 19 afternoon.2. Karthik, Belagavi city corporation commissioner and the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) has replied to the MLA’s letter, saying that there was no legal provision for bulk scrutiny or deletion of votes under the SIR process.He has, however, clarified that Booth Level Agents (BLAs) could file objections to the inclusion of doubtful electors through the concerned Booth Level Officers (BLOs).3. Countdown begins for shifting Mangaluru from Palakkad division of SR to Mysuru unit of SWRThe countdown has started for bringing Mangaluru Railway Region under Mysuru division of South Western Railway (SWR) from Palakkad division of Southern Railway with effect from the intervening midnight of September 30 and October 1. Both the divisions are holding regular meetings to facilitate a smooth change of guard.On September 30, a team of senior officers from Mysuru division, will be in Mangaluru to officially take over the administration, Divisional Railway Manager Mudit Mittal told The Hindu. Clothing tag helps Bengaluru police identify 20-day-old decomposed body of murdered womanBengaluru police have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with the alleged murder of his wife, whose highly decomposed body was found in a vacant site in Agrahara Layout, in northeast Bengaluru’s M.S. Nagar, on September 2.The accused, identified as Sagar Chandra Rawat, allegedly killed his wife Anusuya Behara, 28, following a fight over a financial matter in their rented house near Sampigehalli on August 11.
