Sugathan, under Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 2007 (KAAPA), is a vindication of the BJP’s stance all along that the cases foisted on Sugathan were false and politically motivated, BJP State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar said.Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, at Poojappura Central prison, where he had arrived to receive the Yuva Morcha activits released on bail, Mr. Chandrasekhar said that the CPI(M) had misused the State police for 10 years to fix political opponents by foisting false cases on them and the V.D. Satheesan government was following the same path . He added that the people who have been watching these events unfold are fully conversant of the facts.“On one side, there is the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, extolling the virtues of the Constitution, democracy and rule of law and on the other, the actions of the Congress-led government in Keralam expose what the BJP calls the party’s double standards. The Congress party has no moral right to speak of democracy or rule of law,” Mr. Chandrasekhar said. Published - October 06, 2026 08:03 pm IST
