A student from Haryana who studied through Telegram sent a teacher money with a note after securing a clerk post. The gesture was called a modern 'gurudakshina' by people online.Online educator Aashish Arora shared a heartwarming gift from a student. (Photo: Instagram/aashisharorasocial)Sometimes, a teacher’s most meaningful reward is not a fee or a certificate, but a student returning to say, “I made it.” For online educator Aashish Arora, that moment came in the form of an envelope containing a handwritten note and some money from a student who had once studied from his Telegram lessons because he could not afford fees.Arora, who teaches quantitative aptitude for bank exams online, shared the touching gesture on social media after visiting Hisar in Haryana. A member of his team received the envelope on his behalf.Inside, was a simple note addressed to him.“Please give it to Aashish sir. I studied from Telegram. Sorry I had no money at that time. But I got selected for RRB clerk position. Thank you Aashish Sir,” the student wrote. For Arora, the selection itself was reason enough to feel proud. The money, however, was something he never expected.“Someone handed this to my team member when I went to Hisar. There was this letter and money,” Arora wrote in the caption accompanying the photograph. “If you’re reading this, please know this was really not needed. You got this selection with your hardwork,” he wrote.See the post here:What appeared to be a modest envelope carried a much bigger story of a student who had limited financial means but did not let that stop him from preparing for a competitive exam. Instead, he turned to free learning material on Telegram and eventually secured a position as an RRB clerk.Arora admitted that the gesture left him struggling to find the right words.“I honestly have no words. I don’t know what to say except thank you. I’ll remember this for a long, long time. God bless you,” he wrote. The post has since crossed 30,000 views and attracted an outpouring of appreciation. Many users described the student’s gesture as Gurudakshina (a traditional expression of gratitude offered to a teacher).Others pointed out how free and accessible online education can become a lifeline for students who cannot afford expensive coaching. For Arora, the envelope may have contained money, but the note inside was perhaps the greater reward.- EndsPublished By: Srimoyee ChowdhuryPublished On: Aug 12, 2026 15:49 IST
