They will submit a memorandum to the Haryana Governor, seeking implementation of the State government’s three-year regularisation policy. The march, organised by the Haryana Guest Teachers’ Joint Front, comes amid a protest outside the Mini Secretariat in Kurukshetra that has been going on since June 23. The teachers said they held three major rallies, submitted memoranda to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and held four rounds of talks with the State government, but there has been no resolution.Addressing the rally, front president Krishan Kumar, Government Contractual Teachers’ Association state president Dinesh Yadav, and other leaders alleged that the government had continued to give assurances without taking concrete steps towards regularisation. The march, called ‘Nyay Yatra’, will halt overnight at the Udham Singh Memorial in Shahabad and resume on Monday (October 26). The teachers plan to submit memoranda to all 90 MLAs.The leaders said the Supreme Court, in its April 17, 2026, judgment, had upheld the validity of the Haryana government’s regularisation policies dated June 16 and 18, 2014. The Punjab and Haryana High Court subsequently passed orders on April 29 and May 27, 2026, to regularise the guest teachers, they said. More than 11,000 teachers come under purview of the policy.Claiming that all guest teachers in government schools fulfilled the eligibility conditions under the two policies, the leaders demanded their immediate regularisation and all consequential benefits with effect from June 2014.The protest programme includes zonal rallies on November 1 in Gurugram, Kaithal, Ambala, Karnal, Hisar, and Rohtak, followed by a gherao of the Chief Minister’s camp office in Kurukshetra on November 14 and 15.As part of the agitation, women teachers will celebrate Karwa Chauth on October 28 by wearing dupattas with the slogan on the three-year policy. The teachers will also observe a ‘Black Diwali’ on November 8. Published - October 25, 2026 09:04 pm IST
