Harvester confirms closure date of ‘very busy’ restaurant inside UK retail park after 15 years

HARVESTER has confirmed the closure of a beloved branch after 15 years. The popular casual dining chain is preparing to close its site in Northampton Retail Park on August 21. The restaurant has become a favourite for families in the area Credit: Harvester The chain, famous for its salad bar, has been serving customers at the East Midlands location for nearly two decades. Devastated locals were quick to share their heartbreak, sharing they had “many memories here” and the site was always “busy”. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! Others described it as a “busy little place that had a real nice vibe to it.” A Harvester spokesperson told the Northampton Chronicle: “This decision has been taken after careful consideration and as part of the continual review of our estate. “We are in consultation with the team and hope to redeploy as many employees as possible at our other nearby businesses.” They added: “We would like to thank our customers and hard- working staff who have supported us an, there is still just over three weeks to enjoy the Harvester experience and of course, we still have the nearby Harvester at Grange Park.” Just last month, the Cwmbran Harvester at St David’s Leisure Park shut its doors for good. Harvester has over 150 locations across the UK. Most read in Money At the end of April, the restaurant chain shut down a busy branch in Leicester as part of the review of its estate. It comes amid a tough time for the UK’s hospitality sector, with many feeling the pain of rising costs and shoppers having less money to burn. Come September, Beefeater, Brewers Fayre and three other chains including Bar + Block will vanish from the high street for good as part of an overhaul plan by parent company Whitbread. Meanwhile, Merrie England, known for its traditional Tudor themed cafes, is set to vanish and close all of its six sites after it revealed it could no longer cope with rising costs.
