The former One Direction star, 32, was performing at Madison Square Garden when he shared the unreleased song What is Enough? Dedicating the song to Payne, he said: ‘I feel incredibly proud when I get to look up there and see my name up there. ‘There are so many people in my life, friends and people that I’ve worked with, that I wouldn’t have been able to do this without. And two years ago today, I lost one of those friends.” ‘Adding that ‘it’s just about looking after each other,’ he told the stadium to ‘get home safe [and] tell someone you love that you love them.’ The concert, held on Friday, October 16, marked two years since Payne’s tragic death at the age of 31. Now you don’t. Now you never will, will you? ’ I’m not wise enough to call for a conversation and then back it up. Why?Like you in the sky.’ Payne died in 2024 after falling from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires. His cause of death was listed as polytrauma and internal and external bleeding.
