Harry Potter star Evanna Lynch ties the knot

Irish actress Evanna Lynch, best known for starring in the Harry Potter film franchise, tied the knot last week.The 35-year-old, famous for her role as Luna Lovegood in the popular fantasy film franchise, married her partner of almost five years Denis Skinner in an intimate ceremony in London on Friday, according to British Vogue.Lynch made her film debut in Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix in 2007, but long before she stepped into her role as eccentric witch Luna she was pen pals with author JK Rowling.The actress, from Co Louth, was battling an eating disorder at the time and wrote to Rowling about her own insecurities and struggles.Lynch has continued to pursue acting since the Harry Potter series ended in 2011 and has featured in films such as My Name Is Emily and G.B.F., and made TV appearances in Sinbad and Dragon Striker.The star consulted an astrologist to help with the wedding planning and eventually scheduled the event for August 21 as her desired date on August 22 was unavailable, and because she was advised to avoid the solar eclipse.“I can totally see why. Lots of my friends have been sick, or a family member has died – it’s been very dramatic,” Lynch told the fashion magazine.Lynch wore a vintage skirt her stylist found weeks before her wedding day, which she paired with a Moira Hughes corset from Ellie Sanderson to create her dream dress.Her new husband opted for green corduroy tailoring from Suit Supply which he paired with shoes from Rothy’s, which were crafted from plastic bottles to reflect his environmentalism.Evanna Lynch made her acting debut in Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix as a teenager (Niall Carson/PA)PA Archive“A lot of people questioned wearing corduroy in August but Den would not be deterred,” Lynch said.The actress described the ceremony at Islington Town Hall as “very sweet and simple”, and Vogue shared pictures of the happy couple accompanied by their dog Malo on the big day.Lynch told the magazine: “When we started the wedding planning process, I was a bit disparaging of it all.“It’s so over the top. It’s so lavish.
