The series is immortalized in an enormous way via Universal Studios, for instance, and, while they gradually declined in terms of their overall quality, the Fantastic Beasts movies at least sustained Harry Potter’s theatrical presence for a spell. If there’s any evidence out there that Harry Potter is truly one of the most extraordinary Warner Bros. IPs ever, it’s that we’re about to have brand-new adaptations of the books saturate popular culture for the next 10 years. Before Harry Potter’s decade-long HBO era begins, however, fans can look forward to another new Harry Potter release that will taste especially sweet for anyone who’s nostalgic for the era we’re about to leave behind. Last month, the Warner Bros. Games X account shared pre-orders for the LEGO Harry Potter Collection on Nintendo Switch 2, which is set to arrive on October 16, 2026. Fans who own a Switch 2 and have been awaiting their Hogwarts enrollment letter should plan a visit to Diagon Alley for curriculum supplies promptly, as there’s only a little more than a week until they board the Hogwarts Express and are sorted into their Hogwarts House. The LEGO Harry Potter Collection collects LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1–4 and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5–7. While it may seem like these two separate releases are lopsided, with the former containing more years than the latter, fans of the Harry Potter movie franchise will know that Year 7 was a doozy for Harry, Ron, and Hermione, earning its split into two movies: Part 1 and Part 2 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. LEGO Harry Potter games aren’t the only Harry Potter video games that adapt or are inspired by the movies, but they’re undoubtedly the most accessible or ubiquitous, especially with them being ported to PC and other modern platforms. To have the LEGO Harry Potter Collection on Switch 2 is wonderful for that sort of preservation to continue, which may be even more important now, with HBO’s Harry Potter potentially overwriting or eclipsing the legacy of the movies that give it a high bar to clear. A Hogwarts Legacy successor is inevitable, regardless of whether or not it’s a direct sequel or another open-world action-RPG set in the Wizarding World that allows players to explore Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the meantime, the LEGO Harry Potter Collection is a charming reminder of the movies that propelled the novels’ popularity and vice versa, and is already a relic of that past, as the future of Harry Potter content looks ahead.
