Sign in to your ScreenRant account 15 years ago, the last Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, was released. Today, Avalanche and Warner Bros. Games’ Hogwarts Legacy might be the best heir to that legacy, capturing more fans than the Fantastic Beasts series. It's not the first great Harry Potter video game, though, and Traveler’s Tales’ LEGO Harry Potter games were fantastic outings in the Wizarding World. LEGO Harry Potter Collection, which bundles LEGO Harry Potter Years 1–4 and Years 5–7, marks the end of one era and the start of another, as the HBO Harry Potter TV show premieres this holiday season and seeks to introduce a new generation of fans to the franchise. As a treat for fans of the movies, Warner Bros. Games has announced something special for LEGO Harry Potter Collection. On X, Warner Bros. Games announced that LEGO Harry Potter Collection will officially be released for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 16, 2026. This follows a handful of other exciting Harry Potter announcements and updates doled out for the Harry Potter movie franchise’s 25th anniversary, and in anticipation of the first season of the TV series, which is adapting the novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. It’s a little bittersweet knowing that LEGO Harry Potter Collection will soon be a relic of a bygone Harry Potter era. Nonetheless, it’s obviously a boon to be able to play LEGO Harry Potter Collection on Nintendo Switch 2 at all, as it’s now one of the few LEGO games graced with modern ports on every imaginable platform. LEGO Harry Potter Collection launching for Nintendo Switch 2 in the middle of October is perfect timing due to Harry Potter’s brand-new era beginning a month and a half later. This gives fans ample time to not only rewatch the eight iconic Harry Potter movies that have wholly defined the iconography and atmosphere of the brand for the last 25 years, but also experience Traveler’s Tales’ amusing and charming LEGO reimaginings of them. It’ll be interesting to see how this TV show turns out, as it looks fairly comparable to the movies’ aesthetic and storytelling thus far, especially in Harry Potter’s new HBO trailer. There's always a chance that Traveler’s Tales could end up developing LEGO video game adaptations of the Harry Potter show’s seasons, but for now, the original games will have to do.
