The big one is obviously the upcoming HBO adaptation, which is set to tell us the story of the books once again, only with considerably more detail than the movies. As well as that, the Hogwarts Legacy sequel is also on the way, with the plan currently being that it will be closely tied to the aforementioned show. What exactly that will look like remains to be seen, but it could be a very different proposition from the spectacularly successful first release. Those are the only projects to look out for if you're a fan of the franchise though, as there's another game on the way that could easily be the best of the bunch. Harry Potter Will Return October 2026 Over on Kickstarter, you should be able to find the funding campaign for Defenders of Hogwarts, an officially licensed board game release that allows players to choose which side of the war they want to be on. In describing what fans can expect from the game, developer MinaLima shared the following insight: "Hogwarts is under attack… Decide its fate in a spellbinding new board game from MinaLima, the graphic designers of the Harry Potter film universe. Lord Voldemort’s arrival at the castle is imminent. Prepare for what lies ahead by honing your spell-casting skills, exploring the storied grounds of Hogwarts, and laying the groundwork for a battle between good and evil. "But will you do so as a loyal Hogwarts student, or as a member of the Dark Forces, seeking to bring about a new era of darkness? The choice is yours." Being able to choose what side of the conflict you want to be on really is the feature that could make the experience unique. Hogwarts Legacy does allow players to liberally use the dark arts, but that's set at a totally different time, and joining Voldemort's ranks is another proposition entirely. Late Pledges Are Currently Open The funding campaign has now drawn to a close but it was an enormous success, raising over $1.2 million and hurtling into production as a result. That said, if you do want to get in on the fun, they are now taking late pledges for Defenders of Hogwarts at several tiers, in what could be a great way to spend your time while you wait for those other Harry Potter projects.
