The original movies are still beloved, but as recent years have proved, there's still plenty left to do inside the Wizarding World. From new video games to new movies and more, the past decade has seen the world of Harry Potter growing exponentially. That's certainly the case here, as a new Castle Chronicles officially arrives. Castle Chronicles allow players to take on quests (or revisit them) in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. Completing Castle Chronicles will net some nice rewards, as well as reopening TLSQs (Time-Limited Side Quests) for anyone who missed them previously. Castle Chronicles also serve as a way to keep players invested in the game, which celebrated its 8-year anniversary earlier in 2026. A new Castle Chronicles has now been confirmed for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. In a post shared on Facebook, the official Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery account announced the new event is now underway. "Can you prevent a D.A.D.A. disaster?" reads the post. And indeed, players are tasked with trying to avoid a disaster in Defense Against the Dark Arts class. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery from Jam City launched in 2018 and still sees regular updates. It offers fans of the books and movies a chance to experience Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry on their own terms. Similar to the roleplaying experience in Hogwarts Legacy, the game is set within the timeframe between Harry's birth and his arrival at the school. It also allows players to interact with characters like Severus Snape and Albus Dumbledore without directly affecting any outcomes from the series' main narrative, since it's set before Harry's arrival. Fans of the movies will also be glad to hear that a number of the movies' cast voice their characters in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, which helps with the immersion. If you've never played it, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery can be downloaded for free through the iOS and Google Play storefronts, but it does include in-app purchases. As with the other Harry Potter video games currently running, this is part of Portkey Games. Of course, there's also the more recently-released Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions to check out too if you're feeling a bit more competitive. In other Harry Potter news, it was recently confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy 2 is definitely in development, although I suppose that shouldn't come as the biggest surprise, given the enormous success of the first game. We have no idea when it'll release, mind you. If you've played Hogwarts Legacy and are craving some new video game content, then Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery might be a good fit, since it regularly gets updates. It'll at least help pass the time while waiting for Hogwarts Legacy 2 or the first season of the Harry Potter show on HBO Max, so consider giving the new Castle Chronicles a try. Rowling Harry Potter is a multimedia franchise about an orphaned boy who enrolls at Hogwarts School of Wizardry, where he learns the truth about himself, his family, and the terrible evil that haunts the magical world. Adapted from the novels, Harry Potter is an eight-episode film saga that follows the journey of Harry Potter and his friends, Hermoine Granger and Ron Weasley, as they navigate the tricky world of growing up, school life, and magic. Starting from year one and moving to their seventh year, the films chronicle the students' time at Hogwarts while unfurling a sinister plot that centers around the unsuspecting Harry. With the return of the dark wizard, Voldemort, the students and professors at Hogwarts will fight to carry on as the world around them may change forever. Harry Potter has expanded beyond the world of its films and novels with several video games, a spin-off film series titled Fantastic Beasts, and even attractions at Universal Studios.
