Hanuman Ansh earns Rs 200 crore on Rs 2 crore budget; beats Mirzapur, Haiwaan

Director Vishal Chaturvedi's devotional drama Hanuman Ansh has officially entered the Rs 200-crore club, returning 100 times its reported Rs 2-crore budget. Rooted in the teachings of spiritual icon Neem Karoli Baba, the unheralded release has become the cheapest Indian production to achieve the milestone, out-performing high-profile competitors including Mirzapur: The Movie and Haiwaan at the box office.Hanuman Ansh, in its sixth week has accomplished a rare feat by registering its highest single-Friday collection since release, earning Rs 10.50 crore on Day 36, as reported by box office tracker Sacnilk. This remarkable late surge has propelled the film to the number-one spot across Indian theatres, comfortably outpacing holdovers like Mirzapur: The Movie (Rs 9.50 crore) and new theatrical arrivals like the Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar's crime thriller Haiwaan, which opened at just Rs 3 crore nett.As of Day 37, Hanuman Ansh is currently running across 2,637 shows and has collected a nett of Rs 2.25 crore, according to Sacnilk.The current surge caps off an unprecedented theatrical trajectory. Hanuman Ansh opened to a modest Rs 10 lakh on Day 1 and managed a nett total of just Rs 1.48 crore over its first fortnight. However, word-of-mouth momentum took hold from Day 16, resulting in extraordinary third, fourth, and fifth-week tallies — minting Rs 61 crore in week four and Rs 90 crore in week five. With its domestic nett haul now standing at Rs 175.88 crore (translating to a Rs 207.81 crore worldwide gross ahead of its overseas rollout), it has comfortably surpassed previous low-budget record holders like The Kashmir Files (made on a Rs 15 crore budget) in terms of return on investment.Hanuman Ansh is inspired by the life and teachings of Neem Karoli Baba, popularly known as Maharaj Ji. Actor Shobhinaw Satyaa plays Neem Karoli Baba, while Vihaan Shedge portrays Maharaj Ji at another stage of the story. The film also features Chandan Anand, Purnima Tiwari, Anil K Rastogi and Gulshan Pandey in key roles.
