Hands-on: Orbitkey elevated its time-tested key organizer with a built-in Google Find Hub tracker

If you happen to walk past the Orbitkey’s setup at IFA in Berlin, you might have seen what the company is known for — key organizers. You’d be forgiven for not thinking these new key organizers had Google Find Hub trackers built in. Orbitkey isn’t new to Google Find Hub trackers, and certainly not key organizers. But its brand-new Key Organizer Tracker is the culmination of both, blending the visual design of what makes the company’s popular key holders so popular with more utility. I spent some time during IFA with the new key tool, and it’s already part of my EDC going forward. The Key Organizer Tracker works with both Google Find Hub and Apple Find My networks by keeping a built-in tracker tucked in one of the sides. It looks thick at first glance, but I found that the new tracker/organizer is no thicker than some key-keepers, like the Ridge version I was lugging around. If your key organizer has a belt clip, Orbitkey’s Key Organizer Tracker will take up just as much space. I’ve been using it for a few days during my IFA trip, and even though I don’t need to pull out my keys while on the go, I’ve toyed around with it enough to appreciate the design. Keys stay tucked and don’t spin, and the post has a semi-locking mechanism that prevents the keeper from loosening unnecessarily. Instead of a piece of spring steel sticking out to keep friction on your keys, Orbitkey uses a patented pressure ring that provides the perfect amount of pushback to keep them from spinning or locking in place. Even the bottom key ring made for accompanying car keys is designed well. It’s fixed at the bottom, where the leather and plastic bend around. It doesn’t slide up into the space where keys sit, which makes pulling it out and grabbing the right key easier. The tracker itself is no-nonsense, which is perfect. There’s a button for pairing and an LED to indicate status. It has a speaker to play loud chirps through the Google Find Hub app, and it charges via a magnetic pin charger included with the organizer. Orbitkey says the new Key Organizer Tracker lasts for 3-5 months, depending on your use. With how easy it is to charge, even with keys on it, that’s a respectable length of time. Fit and finish feel great, as well. It has a faux-leather outer layer in tons of color options, and the rest of the keyboard’s build is made of sturdy, quality plastic. Orbitkey also announced a new standalone tracker to complement the key holder. It’s shaped like a small popsicle stick, so it might not fit in your AirTag-branded accessories. Still, I’ve found it sort of slips into just about any bag. In Orbitkey’s new tech pouches, it fits into a dedicated pocket, so it won’t get lost in the clutter. It has the same specs as the key tracker, with 3-5 months of battery and the same charging method. Both the Orbitkey Key Organizer Tracker and the standalone Tracker come in a bunch of colors. Even though my pictures only show the black colorway, the rest of the company’s color options are vibrant. The key organizer comes in Black, Blush, Cobalt, Citrus, and Orange leather-free options.
