If you had told someone in 2007 that Halo, Forza and Gears of War would all be on PlayStation hardware, they'd have looked at you like you were crazy. After all, this was the peak of the Xbox 360 era and the console wars. The thought of either of Xbox's major pillars appearing on anything but, well, an Xbox would be considered crazy. However, that's exactly the reality we live in. Both Gears of War and Forza made their debuts on PlayStation last year, and Halo, via the Halo: Campaign Evolved remake, will grace a Sony console for the first time in history at some point this year. Related Playing Gears Of War On PlayStation 5 Feels Like I'm Committing A Crime One of the most iconic Xbox properties of all time has finally come to PlayStation. Say hello to Gears of War. As if the announcement that Halo would leave behind the "Green Machine" wasn't enough shock, fans are questioning the reality we live in now that promotional box art for the upcoming title is making the rounds. Master Chief On Anything But An Xbox Feels Oh So Weird, But Also Oddly Cool As first spotted on Reddit, it appears that GameStop stores are gearing up for Halo: Campaign Evolved to be available for pre-order at some point soon, and as such, have begun posting promotional material, including the game's cover art on a PlayStation 5 game case. Indeed, Master Chief posing under the "PS5" logo is truly a weird sight, and many fans were quick to point out how crazy it is to see in real life, especially after years of fake box art. For what it's worth, it's unclear how Halo: Campaign Evolved will be rolled out. Forza Horizon 5 was a digital-only release, while Gears of War: Reloaded received a physical copy, but only on PlayStation 5. For all we know, Halo could also be a digital-only game, but the box art makes me think there will be some sort of physical edition. "This is the type of (stuff) you'd see in Photoshopped images and mock-ups when people were speculating about next-gen consoles back in the 360/PS3 days," one user remarked. "The console wars are truly dead and buried." "Oh that just feels wrong," another user wrote. "Imagine showing these to someone 10 years ago? Or 15 years ago during the Xbox 360 heyday?" someone else chimed in. Others were less starstruck, hoping that the move to PlayStation could help revitalize the franchise by bringing in new players and new ideas. "It’s insane, but tbh, it’s essential for Halo’s survival at this point," one Halo fan wrote. "Xbox’s popularity is at an all-time low and the franchise won’t survive unless it expands and becomes accessible to more gamers across more platforms." No matter which way you look at it, Halo on a PlayStation is going to take some getting used to. The box art is plenty proof.
