The stakes are being raised for The Gentlemen's season 3 return on Netflix. Serving as a spinoff of Guy Ritchie's hit 2019 crime movie of the same name, The Gentlemen season 2 launched a highly successful return on Netflix on September 3. Shortly before becoming both a global streaming smash and critical success, Netflix officially renewed The Gentlemen for season 3 in late August. As the Guy Ritchie-created franchise continues to expand on streaming, the series is also set to see some major changes in its third outing. During an appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark, lead The Gentlemen cast member Theo James, who stars as Duke of Halstead Eddie Horniman, teased "an even bigger" scale for season 3. In terms of The Gentlemen season 3's story, James explained that "we've got a completely new direction for where the show goes," confirming the next outing will also take place "in a completely different continent." Though James didn't give any location specifics, the actor noted that the series will continue to "evolve" as they "take it to very different locations" around the globe: Theo James: "We're going to go – I won't spoil it – but we've got a completely new direction for where the show goes in a completely different continent. It's going to be even bigger. With a show like this, I feel like if you don't try and push the boundaries every time to make it richer and bigger and more insane, then you're failing. So we'll keep evolving the show and take it to very different locations." Last week, it was reported that filming on The Gentlemen season 3 began in Morocco, aligning with Theo James' reveal to ScreenRant that shooting would start "imminently" after season 2's drop on Netflix. Though James himself didn't state the new locations, the production reports seem to confirm that Eddie's operations will be expanding into Africa as the new continent featured in season 3. Throughout seasons 1 and 2, The Gentlemen's locations have been contained to Europe. The series primarily takes place in England, with filming occurring across locations such as London, Gloucestershire, Surrey, and Buckinghamshire. However, The Gentlemen season 2 expanded the series' setting to Italy, with crucial sequences being filmed at Lake Maggiore. Now, season 3 is taking an even bigger jump with multiple locations being added to the map of Eddie's growing empire. The acclaimed The Gentlemen season 2 ended with Eddie fully embarking on his dark transformation into a mob boss after discovering who ordered the attack on Halstead Manor and the attempted kidnapping of his nephew. After learning that his brother, Freddy, betrayed him, Eddie forces Freddy to make amends by committing a brutal murder, setting up an even darker path for Theo James' character in season 3. So far, Netflix has yet to announce a release window or date for The Gentlemen season 3, which will consist of eight episodes. However, with filming already under way, it's possible that season 3 could arrive as early as late 2027 or in early 2028. In addition to writing alongside Matthew Read, Guy Ritchie will return as a director in season 3. Theo James and Kaya Scodelario are confirmed to reprise their roles as Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass, respectively.
