Guwahati woman found dead with severed head in refrigerator, husband prime suspect

(Credits: Social Media)A gruesome murder has been reported from Guwahati’s Hatigaon area, where the body of a 25-year-old woman was found at Basisthapur Bylane. The deceased has been identified as Riya Talukdar, a resident of Noonmati.Her husband, Ramanujan Goswami, whose family home is in Gauripur, is suspected of being involved in the killing. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and are working to ascertain the exact sequence of events.According to preliminary information, Riya and Ramanujan had a heated argument on Monday. Ramanujan reportedly left the house at around 8 pm that night.The murder is suspected to have taken place between 24 and 48 hours before the body was discovered. On Tuesday, neighbours reportedly noticed a foul smell coming from the residence. They alerted the police, following which a team reached the spot and began investigating.Police said the circumstances of the killing appeared particularly gruesome. According to preliminary information, the woman’s head was severed and placed inside a black polythene bag before being kept in a refrigerator. Her fingers were also reportedly cut off. The allegations are yet to be fully established as the investigation continues.RIYA WORKED AT BOUTIQUE IN FANCY BAZARRiya reportedly worked at a boutique in the AC Market area of Fancy Bazar. She was reportedly without her parents and is survived by her only brother.Police are questioning people connected to the case and examining the circumstances that may have led to the alleged killing. The motive behind the murder has not yet been established.POST-MORTEM UNDERWAYThe deceased’s body was taken to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for a post-mortem examination.
