Gurugram man stuck in flood, stranger helps him reach 'Rs 300 crore neighbourhood'

As heavy rain flooded the roads of Gurugram, YouTuber Manas Arora rode pillion with a stranger on a bike to reach home. The viral clip highlighted the city's traffic paralysis and recurring monsoon failures.Heavy rain brought parts of Gurugram to a standstill, with flooded roads and traffic woes turning everyday commutes into a struggle. But amid the chaos, one commuter found an unlikely way home; on the back of a stranger’s bike to a high-end neighbourhood of the city.Trader and YouTuber Manas Arora shared his experience on X, posting a video of himself riding pillion as a biker carefully navigated the waterlogged roads. The moment came with an interesting backstory. Arora had once chosen to skip buying a car, opting instead to put his money into stocks.“Skipped buying a depreciating asset, a car. Put everything in stocks instead,” Arora wrote in the caption. He then added a line that summed up the irony of the day: “Today, a rider rescued me from torrential rain and dropped me to my Rs 300 crore DLF neighbourhood.”The video showed the stranger manoeuvring through the flooded stretches as Arora held on from behind, offering a glimpse of how severely the rain had disrupted movement across the city. The District Disaster Management Authority issued a work-from-home advisory for private companies after a yellow alert was issued for the region. The rain also left school buses stranded, while key stretches, including Subhash Chowk, witnessed major traffic disruption. With roads submerged and commuters struggling to get through, even short journeys became difficult.The situation has once again raised questions about Gurugram’s drainage infrastructure. Despite an estimated Rs 1,400 crore being spent over the past decade on upgrading drainage systems, the city continues to experience severe urban flooding during heavy rain.For Manas Arora, however, the day offered a rather unexpected twist to his investment decision.
