His family and others rushed him to a government hospital, where he died during treatment.Sahil, who witnessed the incident, later made a startling claim about the attack. He said the shooters were actually targeting him and that his father was hit after the attackers missed their intended target.According to Sahil, his brother was accused of killing a young man in January 2025 and is currently in jail. He said the attackers carried out the shooting over the old rivalry and to avenge that killing. Sahil said the shooters followed him and his father before opening fire, but the bullet struck Mahendra instead. After receiving information about the shooting, ACP Kapil Ahlawat reached the spot with police personnel and a forensic team. Police took Mahendra's body into custody and sent it for post-mortem examination.Police have started a detailed investigation into the case. According to the police, the attackers had been conducting surveillance of the father and son before carrying out the shooting and fled after the attack. Police are examining CCTV footage from cameras to identify the attackers and trace their movements.
