(Photos: Varun Suhag/X)New Delhi,Nov 3, 2026 16:47 ISTM3M India, the real estate builder behind the Trump Tower project in Gurugram, has denied resident Varun Suhag’s allegation that he and his family were placed under “house arrest” at the property because the lift was inaccessible. In an official statement shared with India Today Digital, the group said the resident in question was never restricted from leaving their apartment or accessing the building’s common areas. The builder said the lift restrictions flagged by Suhag were part of a "security arrangement" during ongoing interior work and that direct lift access to his floor has since been activated. "The narrative being circulated on social media is misleading and misrepresents the facts," M3M India said.Suhag, who lives on the 36th floor of Trump Towers in Gurugram’s Sector 65, had shared videos on social media on November 1 describing the difficulties he and his family allegedly faced in accessing the lift of their tower. He accused the developer of restricting their movement by deactivating lift access to their floor. In the statement, M3M India said, “The tower’s lifts remained operational throughout and could be called from all other floors. The apartment is served by two main elevators. Both staircases, designated as fire and emergency exits, remained accessible at all times, and no emergency or safety facility was restricted.”Addressing the reason behind the lift restrictions, the builder said the arrangement applied uniformly to apartments where residents had not yet moved in. “With over 200 workers entering the tower each day to undertake interior fit-out works commissioned by homeowners, floor-level lift calling was enabled only for occupied apartments,” M3M India said.It added that the measure was intended to regulate the movement of workers across residential floors and protect the security and privacy of families already living in the tower.Suhag had also raised concerns about access through the service area, which he said was still under construction. In its statement, M3M maintained that the apartment had two main elevators and that the staircases remained accessible. The builder did not say residents were required to use the service area to reach their homes; instead, it reiterated that the lift arrangement was meant to control worker movement during the "ongoing fit-out work".Watch the video shared by Varun Suhag:I the owner of Apartment number 36C, Trump Towers Delhi NCR, Sector 65, Gurugram have been put under house arrest by the builder M3M and management, Mr. Pankaj Bansal. https://t.co/uOntihr8Cw— varun suhag (@varunsuhag) November 1, 2026The company further said Suhag had been informed about the arrangement through an email dated October 3, 2026.“The communication explained that floor-level lift calling was enabled only for occupied apartments and that the Lift Operating Panel serving his apartment would be activated once he was ready to move in,” it mentioned.“Direct lift access from his floor has since been activated,” the statement added.M3M also said, “Approximately 50 families are already residing in the tower without any hassle and enjoying services provided by Roseate, a five-star hospitality chain. Their comfort, security and day-to-day living experience remain central to the tower’s operations.”Calling the “house arrest” narrative a misrepresentation of a standard security measure, the developer said its team remained available to address resident Varun Suhag’s concerns.- Ends
