Image used representational purposes only. | Photo Credit: menonsstocks A court in Guntur on Wednesday (September 30, 2026) sentenced Bharavath Tava to life imprisonment for killing his wife, Bharavath Roopa, at Motadaka village under the Tadikonda police station limits in April 2024. The court also imposed a fine of ₹1,000 and ordered him to undergo an additional three months in prison if he failed to pay it.Principal District and Sessions Judge B. Sai Kalyan Chakravarthi pronounced the judgment in the murder case registered under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).According to the police, Tava attacked his wife on the head with a stone used for grinding chutney in the early hours of April 18, 2024, suspecting her conduct. She sustained severe bleeding injuries and was taken to the Government General Hospital in Guntur, where she died on the morning of April 21, 2024.Based on a complaint and statement given by Roopa’s father, Bhukya Ramu, the Tadikonda police registered a case and conducted an investigation. A chargesheet was later filed before the court.The case was registered by Sub-Inspector G. Anjaiah and investigated by C.H. Prabhakara Rao and K. Vasu. Public Prosecutor Chukkapalli Ramesh represented the prosecution.Guntur Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal said police officials had coordinated and worked to ensure effective prosecution and secure the conviction.
