A witness said Wable looked “extremely drunk” when he confronted the cook, pushing him before pointing a gun at him.The witness said they tried to calm Wable down when the gun fired. The argument eventually moved outside to the parking lot, where Wable chased the cook with a knife. At one point, Wable, who reportedly was banned from owning a gun after a 2021 charge, told bystanders he was “leaking.” A witness noticed a hole in the back of his pants.Wable eventually got into his wife’s SUV and drove off. The cook declined to speak with police or cooperate with the investigation. Muncie police responded to the 911 call and found the gun and a shell casing still at the IHOP.Police tracked down the SUV and tried to pull Wable over, but he led officers on a high-speed chase. During the pursuit, Wable nearly hit other cars, and at one point his vehicle reportedly went airborne. The chase ended when the SUV crashed into a home. Wable reportedly stumbled out of the vehicle and a Taser was deployed after he allegedly did not follow officers’ commands. When Wable was taken into custody, officers noticed he had been shot. He received care and was then charged with six felonies, including criminal recklessness, intimidation with a deadly weapon, unlawful carrying of a handgun and resisting law enforcement with a vehicle. Wable also was charged with several misdemeanors. He is being held at the Delaware County Justice and Rehabilitation Center without bail.Chris Franklin is an NFL reporter for NJ Advance Media, covering anything and everything that has to do with the team.
