Sign in to your TheGamer account It's been known for a while that GTA 6 wouldn't be released on PC at the same time it arrives on consoles. That isn't the way Rockstar does things. However, a new report may have revealed that the PC version of the game will be launching a lot sooner than many were expecting. GTA 6 Could Be On PC By Early 2027 Rockstar According to GamesBeat, the PC version of GTA 6 will be released during Q1 2027, so before the end of March 31. That means, at the latest, if the report is accurate, GTA 6 will be officially available on PC within four months of its console launch. It might also potentially mean we get the PC version even earlier than that, with the possibility that the game arrives on a third platform anytime from January 1, 2027, onwards. GamesBeat claims to have confirmed plans for GTA 6's release window with four industry sources that are privy to Rockstar's plans surrounding what will likely be the biggest video game launch of all time. Naturally, those sources requested to remain anonymous, which means there's no official confirmation for now. It's a ray of hope, a bright one, however, for those who would rather play GTA 6 on PC and feared how long they might be made to wait. That comes after the last hope PC players were given was swiftly shut down. A confusing message surrounding the ability to stream GTA 6 via the cloud courtesy of Xbox implied that it would cover streaming the game to PC. Turns out that's not the case, and there will be no official way to play Rockstar's next game on PC when it launches exclusively on consoles on November 19, 2026. Even a suggestion that GTA 6 will be available on PC as soon as four months after launch will come as good news, even if it hasn't been officially confirmed yet. GTA 5 released on PS3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013. It took more than 18 months for it to finally come to PC, releasing in April 2015. A similar gap between platform releases for GTA 6 would mean the PC version doesn't get here until June 2028. Rockstar has never confirmed why it doesn't release games on consoles and PC simultaneously, but there are a few theories as to why it chooses to stagger release dates. No PC version at launch singificantly reduces the risk of a game leaking early, although considering how much of GTA 6 continues to make it out into the world without Rockstar's say so, that hasn't really worked out. It's been 13 years since GTA 5, though. The world has changed. A far larger chunk of GTA 6's potential player base now primarily plays their games on PC. Waiting 18 months to give them the game everyone has been waiting for wouldn't be wise.
