GTA 6 Pre-Orders Massively Outpaced By Ocarina Of Time On Amazon

Ocarina Of Time Pre-Orders Are Currently Outselling GTA 6 On Amazon By Almost 6-To-1 Published Oct 16, 2026, 11:30 AM EDT Josh Coulson is an editor at TheGamer covering breaking news on everything from colorful platformers to the latest Lego sets. In terms of numbers, it’s going to be one of the quieter Novembers in recent history for video game releases. It is, however, still going to be one of the biggest, as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Switch 2 launches on November 5, and then GTA 6 arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S two weeks later on November 19. Ocarina Of Time Is Outselling GTA 6 On Amazon A sequel to one of the best-selling games of all time, and a remake of the highest-rated game of all time, launching within two weeks of one another. It’s going to be quite the November, and many of you will have likely placed pre-orders for one, if not both, of those games. What might surprise you is which of those games has been selling the most with only a few weeks left to go, at least on Amazon. Ocarina of Time has been pre-ordered 60,000 times on Amazon US during the past month. A number likely driven by its previews going live this week. I imagine that most people would assume GTA 6’s pre-order numbers are far higher than that, but no. According to the same metric, around 11,000 people have pre-ordered GTA 6 during the same period - 9,000 on PS5 and 2,000 on Xbox. Not a good look for Xbox, which has sold a third of the consoles this generation compared to PlayStation, but in this instance, accounts for less than a quarter of GTA 6 pre-orders. Rockstar Based on those numbers, Ocarina of Time isn’t just outpacing GTA 6 when it comes to pre-orders, but obliterating it. The remake has sold almost six times as many copies over the course of the last month. Impressive not only because it’s only available on one platform, but because that platform currently has an install base of just under 23 million. There are at least 130 million people out there who own a console that can run GTA 6. There are a lot of caveats to consider here. This is only based on Amazon sales. Granted, that is almost certainly the largest third-party seller when it comes to where people are going to buy these games, but it is still only a slice of the far larger pies Even more significant is what version of the games these sales numbers represent - their physical editions. If nothing else, I think these figures are an indicator of just where those fighting for physical media’s survival play their games. If digital pre-orders were factored in, then the numbers would not only be far closer, but likely skewed in GTA 6’s favor. Oh, Yeah, I Almost Forgot Call Of Duty Activision Oh, right, there’s another big game coming out soon according to Activision’s CMO - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. According to the Activision boss, the new CoD and GTA 6 are the only two releases left this year that deserve to be labeled “big games”. I checked in on the Amazon pre-order numbers for Modern Warfare 4 given that bold claim. During the same month-long period, roughly 3,300 people have placed a pre-order for the game. That’s across all three consoles and 5.5% of Ocarina's estimated total.
