Published Nov 3, 2026, 10:23 AM EST Sam Woods is TheGamer’s Senior Reporter. He’s been in games journalism since 2020 and has undertaken a variety of roles in that time. These have included roles such as SEO Editor, Managing Editor at DualShockers, and Global Head of Gaming, and he's also been seen on the BBC. He was promoted to the Senior Reporter position in 2025 following a series of high-quality reports and exclusives for TheGamer. Since 2020, Sam has written over 3,000 articles and specializes in telling the stories of the people behind the games. He’s interviewed the biggest game directors, some of the industry’s top talents, told the stories of how indie games came to be, and spoken to players about what really makes them tick. He’s also interviewed some of the world’s biggest musical artists to find out how the medium has inspired their work, and TV and Film actors about their roles in video game adaptations. He even hosted a PAX panel in 2021 and made a documentary in 2024 surrounding the creation of a Disney game. Alongside this, Sam focuses on breaking news. He got the scoop on Perfect Dark’s cancellation, provided context on some AI drama, and revealed that Lady Dimitrescu’s actress would love to step back into the character’s giant shoes. These articles have been picked up by the biggest gaming sites, including IGN, GameSpot, and PC Gamer. He also loves to dive into the numbers behind the games. Sam’s journey in games journalism has taken him all over the world. He’s covered Gamescom in Germany, Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles, and Tokyo Game Show in Japan, each on three occasions. He’s been learning Japanese since 2024 with the intention of identifying and translating Japanese-language news and bringing it to English-language audiences first, something he’s done countless times. Sam’s first review was 2020’s Battletoads reboot, and he’s since reviewed games in The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, and Pokemon franchises. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available. The hype for Grand Theft Auto 6 is reaching never-before-seen levels, with Rockstar's long-in-development title now just a little over a couple of weeks away. Its launch trailer dropped over a month before launch, and interviews have been released slowly, but we've likely already gotten most of the information we'll get before launch. That is, except for the game's whopping file size and when we'll be able to pre-load it, something that Rockstar has just revealed today. Rockstar Confirms Grand Theft Auto 6 File Size And Pre-Load Dates Rumors have always suggested that Grand Theft Auto 6's file size would be monstrous. That has now been confirmed by its developer, which has revealed that the pre-load file will require up to 212 GB, "depending on your device". It recommends clearing your hard drive to make sure you have "ample space to begin pre-loading as soon as possible." Speaking of pre-load, Rockstar confirmed the game will be available on PlayStation 5 on November 10 at midnight local time, and on Xbox Series X/S on November 10 at 12 am GMT (November 9, 7 pm ET, 4 pm PT). Interestingly, the code-in-box retail versions will begin to appear in stores from November 12 in an unprecedented move. It's a move that will be welcomed by gamers around the world, who are desperate for a physical box (and map) but are reluctant to have to wait all night for it to download when the game launches. This seems to confirm that GTA 6 will launch at Midnight local time, at least on PlayStation, so I can imagine the population of Australia and New Zealand will expand exponentially around November 18. Rockstar added that it will be adding an official printable GTA 6 cover art poster and map of Leonida to its website as a free download at launch, with a double-sided physical version coming a little later for $0.99 (or as a free gift with any purchase from the Rockstar store). It's all starting to feel very real now, right folks?
