| Games News Reporter Published September 3, 2026 3:32pm Updated September 3, 2026 3:32pm This was the only GTA 6 related thing shown during the State of Play (Sony/YouTube) Two limited edition GTA 6 controllers were announced at the recent State of Play, and you can expect them to sell out very quickly. Sony has claimed that GTA 6 will play best on PlayStation 5, but it’s yet to offer any real evidence demonstrating this nor has it shared any benefits the game will see when running on the PlayStation 5 Pro… not that that’s stopped people from buying one. With GTA 6’s launch getting closer and closer, you’d think the game would make a brief appearance at least during today’s State of Play so Sony can hype up how it runs and looks even if it’s locked to 30 frames per second. Instead, the only mention GTA 6 had during the whole showcase was that it will be accompanied by two limited edition PlayStation 5 controllers. Both controllers sport the GTA 6 logo on the touchpad and a palm tree pattern that is ‘moulded directly into the controller,’ obviously inspired by the game’s setting of Vice City. The only difference between the two is that one is white and the other is black, which Sony says are meant to embody Vice City during the day and night respectively. Sony does add that GTA 6 will make use of the PlayStation 5 controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, but doesn’t provide any exact examples, only saying they ‘instantly respond to the action and provide dynamic resistance, bringing the sights, sounds and sensations of Jason and Lucia’s story to life in your hands.’ Both controllers will launch alongside the game itself on November 19 though we wouldn’t recommend waiting till then to buy one as they’ll be available for pre-order next week on September 10. If you want to grab a GTA 6 controller as early as possible, you’ll want to do so via the PlayStation Direct website, where orders will open up at 10am BST. Given the fervour for GTA 6, the controllers are bound to sell out fast and Sony says there will only be a limited supply of them. They’re also not cheap, coming in at £74.99. This makes them slightly more expensive than the standard edition of GTA 6 (£69.99), but this price is in line with other limited edition PlayStation 5 controllers, such as the ones for Wolverine and 007 First Light. Today’s State of Play was otherwise very light on wholly new game announcements. Sony itself didn’t reveal any new exclusives, instead sharing one more Wolverine trailer and a new trailer for Until Dawn 2, but the promised Final Fantasy 7 Revelation mic drop did feature new gameplay details and a release date.
