GTA 6 Map May Have Once Again Been Found In GTA 5

Another Version Of GTA 6’s Map Has Just Been Found In GTA 5 Published Aug 4, 2026, 5:09 AM EDT Sam Woods is TheGamer’s Senior Reporter. He’s been in games journalism since 2020 and has undertaken a variety of roles in that time. These have included roles such as SEO Editor, Managing Editor at DualShockers, and Global Head of Gaming, and he's also been seen on the BBC. He was promoted to the Senior Reporter position in 2025 following a series of high-quality reports and exclusives for TheGamer. Since 2020, Sam has written over 2,500 articles and specializes in telling the stories of the people behind the games. He’s interviewed the biggest game directors, some of the industry’s top talents, told the stories of how indie games came to be, and spoken to players about what really makes them tick. He’s also interviewed some of the world’s biggest musical artists to find out how the medium has inspired their work, and TV and Film actors about their roles in video game adaptations. He even hosted a PAX panel in 2021 and made a documentary in 2024 surrounding the creation of a Disney game. Alongside this, Sam focuses on breaking news. He got the scoop on Perfect Dark’s cancellation, got context around some AI drama, and revealed how Lady Dimitrescu’s actress would love to step back into the character’s giant shoes. These articles have been picked up by the biggest gaming sites, including IGN, GameSpot, and PC Gamer. He also loves to dive into the numbers behind the games. Sam’s journey in games journalism has taken him all over the world. He’s covered Gamescom in Germany, Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles, and Tokyo Game Show in Japan, each on more than one occasion. He’s been learning Japanese since 2024 with the intention of identifying and translating Japanese-language news and bringing it to English-language audiences first, something he’s done countless times. Sam’s first review was 2020’s Battletoads reboot, and he’s since reviewed games in The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, and Pokemon franchises. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick promised that Grand Theft Auto 6's marketing would begin this summer. He also promised that the game's marketing would be creative. With only one month of summer left, though, the marketing has been surprisingly quiet. Unless it hasn't. A few weeks ago, Rockstar Games added a bunch of new content as part of its latest heist, the Kortz Center Heist. Much of this gave players new opportunities and events to take part in, but it also included some new visuals around the world. One of these visuals was a painting that, when compared to a fan project mapping GTA 6's map, appeared very similar. This event has clearly led Grand Theft Auto 5 players to scour every painting in the game, as just now someone found another piece of art that looks suspiciously like what we're anticipating for GTA 6. GTA 6's Map Could Just Be Hiding In Plain Sight In GTA 5 This new discovery was posted on Reddit by user JaneBunnFan. In a building, next to a tall plant, is a painting. The painting features a large, bold green blob in the middle, surrounded by a handful of other smaller, darker sections. It's very artsy, and it also looks a lot like a landmass. When the painting is flipped 180 degrees, it looks a lot like the mapping project put together by GTA fans. The project, which uses images, video footage, and all other known information, has managed to create what players believe is a faithful version of what Rockstar is set to release. And when you compare the two side-by-side, the similarities are stark. Leonida Keys appears at the bottom, the Grassrivers are represented, and most importantly, you can kind of make out the Vice City area and the water surrounding it. While not guaranteed, the theory seems to have resonated heavily with fans. "If you zoom in, crop, rotate approximately 200 degrees, reverse it by mirroring the image (which makes sense to do because it’s hanging on the wall. Mirrors hang), you DEFINITELY get what looks to be a shape similar to what the GTA VI mapping project has come up with," said one in the Reddit thread. Another added, "100% has to be. They said their marketing is going to be creative. This is proof right here." This is far more plausible than many of the other theories we've seen. Fans have tried using celestial bodies and clothing items to predict trailer release dates, and they think a rat is a major piece of foreshadowing.
