GTA 6 Lucia Actor Instagram Account Is A Big Fake

Thousands Of GTA 6 Fans Are Being Fooled By A Fake Lucia Account Published Aug 29, 2026, 8:14 AM EDT George is the Lead News Editor for TheGamer, and has been working in the industry since 2021 after graduating from the University of South Wales with a bachelor's degree in Journalism. He has also previously written for RPG Site, WhatCulture, and PlayStation Lifestyle. George is an expert on platformers, action games, and fighters, but tends to play as many releases as possible. This hands-on experience lets him dive into gaming communities and follow the latest trends. Some of the games George has extensively covered first-hand include Dead Rising, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and Ninja Gaiden 4. An Instagram account clearly impersonating the actor behind Grand Theft Auto 6’s Lucia, Manni Perez, has more than 50,000 followers and seems to be fooling a good number of them. Considering GTA 6 has been the biggest game in the world from the moment it was first announced (or leaked, if you want to go back that far), it’s no surprise that fans have spent a really long time trying to figure out the actors behind the game’s two leads, Jason and Lucia. Jason’s a bit harder to figure out, but most are sure who is bringing Lucia to life. For some time now, the frontrunner for Lucia Caminos has been Manni Perez, who has a very similar face and voice to GTA 6’s lead. Even as that remains unconfirmed, Perez has been harassed for several years now and even deactivated her socials in the wake of endless GTA 6 comments. Now, a clearly fake account is taking everyone for a ride. No, GTA 6’s Lucia Isn’t Back On Instagram The Account Is Riddled With AI-Generated Text And Even Images Ever since the big Grand Theft Auto 6 news drop this week, I’ve been seeing an account plastered over my Instagram. The account, named mannil.perez, is trying to impersonate the actor rumoured to be behind Lucia and currently has over 50,000 followers who seem to believe it’s actually her. The first obvious sign that this isn’t actually Perez is that the account she deactivated last year after all the harassment, mannilperez, is still inactive and has been for some time. If Perez really was coming back to social media, then she’d surely be using the same account as before, instead of creating a new one. If that’s not convincing enough and you want to believe she just lost a password or something, then the next clue is that the fake account’s username has been changed a whopping 16 times and only joined up in 2020, a clear sign that someone has repurposed an account to try and fool everyone into thinking they’re Perez. All of the above is already suspicious enough, but then there’s the actual posts themselves. Running them through GPTZero shows that most of the text is AI-generated, which is already pretty obvious from how they’re worded and structured. One particularly ghoulish post showing a “childhood photo” also uses an AI-generated image pretending to be Perez’s family. Not to mention that Rockstar hasn’t even confirmed that Perez is playing Lucia and likely won’t until much closer to release. It definitely wouldn’t just be announced on Instagram with little fanfare. Many of the other posts showing ‘Perez’ are very clearly AI-generated, with some even just changing her hand gesture between posts. It’s very obvious when you take a second to look back and, while a lot of comments do call out all the evidence of it clearly being fake, some of the posts are getting a lot of attention and likes that suggest the act is working on more people than you might think. Be careful out there.
