| Games News Reporter Published November 5, 2026 4:08pm Updated November 5, 2026 4:09pm Rockstar has dropped a bunch of new GTA 6 screenshots too (Rockstar) Pre-orders for GTA 6 are about to crack $1 billion, and estimates show it’s already sold more than most games do in their whole lifetime. We’re exactly two weeks away from the launch of GTA 6 on November 19 and barring any surprise, last minute leaks, no new info is likely to be shared until the game is in everyone’s hands. One of the most intriguing details, will be GTA 6’s sales performance. It’s guaranteed to sell well, but will it meet whatever lofty expectations Rockstar and publisher Take-Two have? Take-Two has already described pre-order figures as ‘unprecedented and astonishing,’ which is a good sign, and now newly shared data is claiming that GTA 6 has already managed to sell almost eight million copies. This is according to data analytics firm Sensor Tower, which recently updated its estimates for GTA 6’s performance. It states that the game has sold 7.71 million copies on pre-orders alone. In case it’s not already apparent what a staggeringly impressive number that is, Mario Kart World, which launched in June 2025, only recently crossed the 16 million sales mark. And GTA 6 has reportedly sold almost half of that before it’s even come out. Want GTA 6 news? Even the PlayStation 5’s biggest exclusives have never seen such results. 2023’s Spider-Man 2, which is the company’s fastest selling exclusive ever, sold 2.5 million copies at launch and took 107 days to reach 10 million, as shown in Sony’s own financial earnings. In terms of revenue, Sensor Data says that GTA 6’s pre-order sales come to $751 million (about £558 million). As a reminder, it was previously estimated to have made $180 million (£133 million) about a week after pre-orders went live. GTA 6 is also predicted to make at least $3.25 billion (£2.4 billion) in its first week, which isn’t that outrageous when GTA 5 famously made $1 billion in only three days. It’s admittedly still a way off from reaching that target, but a lot can change in two weeks, and it’s likely a lot of people haven’t put money down for a pre-order and will simply buy it at launch. After all, it’s not like Rockstar will run out of copies as the game is only launching digitally. Sensor Tower also agrees that the vast majority of GTA 6 sales are on PlayStation 5 – 74% as opposed to 26% on Xbox Series X. That’s because Sony’s console is the more popular of the two in general, but Sony’s exclusive marketing campaign has definitely helped. GTA 6’s launch trailer on Rockstar’s YouTube channel doesn’t even mention that the game’s available on Xbox, so it wouldn’t be surprising if some customers mistakenly think GTA 6 is a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Coincidentally, Rockstar has also shared a bunch of new screenshots on its website, but they don’t confirm anything new and just reaffirm activities already shown in the trailers, as well as how good the graphics are.
