As anyone who has been happily fed by either GTA 5 or Red Dead Redemption 2 over the past two console generations will know, Rockstar’s releases usually make up for their lengthy development by being absolutely massive games with tons to see and do. In fact, both of Rockstar’s most recent releases are still being picked apart to this day. Considering how long GTA 6 has been in development now, that’s left everyone wondering just how big it’s actually going to be. It turns out that it’s not just GTA fans who want to know the answer, though, as even a former Rockstar Games developer has suggested he has no idea what the studio has been cooking. Former Rockstar Producer “Can Only Imagine” How Big GTA 6 Will Be Considering They Worked On GTA 5, That Says A Lot As pointed out by GamesRadar+, former Rockstar producer John Ricchio, who worked on games like GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption, and Max Payne, recently chatted to YouTuber KiwiTalkz about his time with the studio. At one point, Ricchio was asked about whether he’d want to be a part of GTA 6’s launch considering all of the hype surrounding it. In response, Ricchio pointed out that every time Rockstar makes a new GTA, it’s “ludicrously bigger than before”. The former producer then says that he can “only imagine” how big GTA 6 is going to be, and that it would be “monstrous” if it wasn’t likely to be so detailed. From what we’ve seen so far, he’s almost certainly right. Ricchio goes on to say that each game being bigger than the last has become an “expectation” for Rockstar’s releases, with GTA 5 eclipsing both GTA 4 and the original Red Dead Redemption. While the increased scope of each game does add “extra wrinkles” for those working on it, Ricchio thinks that the work speaks for itself and makes you feel “like you’re in a place”. With all that in mind, Ricchio says that he’s overall happy not to be working on GTA 6 since the development is “really difficult”. Even still, the former dev thinks that the excitement surrounding Rockstar’s games is “magic” and “so rewarding”. I guess we’ll see for ourselves soon enough whether GTA 6 lives up to all of that hype.
