This time last week, Rockstar Games finally blessed us with a proper look at what we can expect from GTA 6 following a solid week of shocking hacked gameplay. The Extended Look delivered on its name by showing us plenty of cutscenes, activities, combat, and what life in Leonida is going to be like later this year. Unarguably, the Extended Look is the best deep dive we’ve ever had into GTA 6 and has given us a great look at the world’s most-anticipated game. That is, unless you’re in China and using Bilibili, as the version of the trailer that’s been shared there is massively censored and honestly makes it hard to even see more of what’s on offer. GTA 6 Extended Look Updated On Bilibili With Tons Of Censorship You Can’t Even See Most Of The People In The Nightclub Scene As pointed out by Twitter user videotech, GTAForums member BDF recently highlighted a censored version of the GTA 6 Extended Look that was posted on Bilibili, often called “China’s YouTube”. The censored version replaced the original version on August 31, and follows Take-Two issuing DMCA takedown notices to any unblurred versions of the trailer being shared. The censored version of the trailer, which was shared on Twitter by videotech, blurs out a ton of content, including scenes featuring lit cigarettes, bloody corpses, women wearing suggestive clothing, and more. The back half of the trailer, which focuses on nightlife, is particularly affected, with one scene featuring Jason walking through an entirely blurred-out crowd. While some scenes do look a little ridiculous, a good amount of the trailer is mostly intact. Just goes to show how much was crammed in there. It’s not entirely clear why the trailer has been changed so heavily after the original version was posted (and since Trailer 1 and 2 are unedited), but it could be because China’s social media doesn’t have an age-rating system. That means basically anyone can see the game’s realistic and detailed versions of all the content above that’s been changed. For now, it does raise some questions about whether GTA 6 will even release in China considering its controversial content, or if Rockstar will need to make a heavily censored version to comply with guidelines. We’ll have to wait and see with that, but the censored version of the trailer is a notable oddity until anything is confirmed.
