Rockstar Games has officially revealed gameplay footage and a deep dive into Grand Theft Auto 6, highlighting the dynamic between Lucia and Jason, the protagonists, as well as the game's new take on Vice City. The highly anticipated game has been plagued by leaks over the past few weeks. A GTA 6 leak showed Lucia’s prologue mission, for example, detailing exactly how she leaves prison at the start of the game – something that had been teased by Rockstar, but hadn’t been seen so far. The leaks were massive and showcased a huge amount of content. The company responded to the leaks, partially, giving players more details about Jason and Lucia in GTA 6. Now, however, we have a much bigger view of how the action-adventure game will work, what the story will be like, and what we can expect from Vice City, 13 years after the release of GTA 5. Rockstar Games held a special presentation on Netflix, revealing the first-ever official gameplay footage for Grand Theft Auto 6. There was a lot to see in the extended look, which went live on Netflix before airing anywhere else, and some details may have gone unnoticed. You Can Pet The Dog In GTA 6 During the special GTA 6 presentation on Netflix, one of the first things shown is that you can pet the dog – a frequent query for any video game release that features animals. During a mission in which Jason and Lucia are on a pickup mission and on their way to the NPC known as Raymond, Jason sees a dog and stops to interact with and play with it. Playing with dogs isn’t exactly new to the franchise, as Franklin owned Chop. However, in GTA 6, it seems different. Based on what was shown, there is a possibility that there will be pets around Vice City, and they may all be interactive. There is an off-chance that the dog shown in the extended look on Netflix may be the only one in the game. Nevertheless, if it is not, it will be a major change for Grand Theft Auto, adapting to highly requested, even if unnecessary, features in games. GTA 6 Environments Are Breakable Breakable environments aren’t exactly new to the series, as they have been present for quite some time. However, based on the new and extended gameplay trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, they will be more dynamic and more frequent throughout your journey through Vice City. During the video, when the police raid on Raymond’s operation takes place, Jason stops short of becoming an obstacle as one of Raymond’s associates rushes an officer through a wall. It’s unclear just how breakable these environments will be, but it looks like it’s at its highest point with GTA 6. During several of the gunplay sequences, you can see enemies shooting objects when they miss shots against Jason or Lucia. This also applies to car control, as the streets of the city feel more realistic. Instead of hitting a solid block of a trash container or an indestructible signpost, the city reacts to your actions and the actions of others around you. Character Customization Has Never Been So Great From the get-go, the extended look on Netflix also showed just how varied character customization is in GTA 6. There were already plenty of character customization options for Franklin, Trevor, and Michael in Grand Theft Auto 5, but it seems like it’s been taken to another level in the upcoming game. We’d seen glimpses of how different Jason and Lucia would look in GTA 6, but the new trailer shows even more options – many of which may be locked behind shops in GTA 6. When the game’s preorders and editions were announced, there was some controversy surrounding the fact that specific shops would only be given to players with the Ultimate Edition. It doesn’t seem like that has changed, but the presentation of various types of clothes, haircuts, and more for both protagonists gives us hope that even if you don’t get the Ultimate Edition, you’ll still have access to a ton of customization choices. Unhinged Satirical Commercials Are Back The beloved unhinged satirical commercials are officially back in GTA 6, as seen during the extended look. One of the most humorous features in its predecessor was the huge presence of commercials that satirized real-life companies or even politicians. During the trailer, Jason sits down as he waits for Lucia to get ready for a meeting with a friend. He turns on the TV and watches some advertisements, one of which is for a fast-food hamburger chain. This advertisement was played in its entirety, but just before it, as Jason scrolled through the channels on his TV, another satirical commercial featuring an antidepressant medication. Both of these ads were shown on his TV, but it’s very likely that there will be hilarious ads designed for the radio stations in Vice City, which you’ll be able to hear while driving your car around. Character-Swapping Is Officially Back Last but not least, the character-swapping feature from GTA 5 is also making a fantastic comeback in the upcoming game with the two playable characters in GTA 6. In multiple instances, the extended look showcased how players can seamlessly switch between Jason and Lucia, and depending on whether they are on a mission together, their roles change. For example, if Lucia is the designated driver and you’re controlling her, an IA version of Jason will fire at pursuers. Similarly, if you’re controlling Jason, Lucia will make the decisions on the road. This was one of the main things about GTA 5, but its return in the new game, now with a duo of protagonists designed to feel like Bonnie and Clyde, will be spectacular. There’s a lot to digest regarding everything seen in the new Grand Theft Auto 6, and these are only some of the most subtle yet amazing details.
