To the surprise of literally no one, pre-orders for the Grand Theft Auto 6 exclusive DualSense controllers (especially the more limited black variant) have been a total mess. Last week during the PlayStation State of Play, one of the biggest surprises of the whole showcase was the announcement of two snazzy GTA 6 DualSense controllers. The white variant was set up to be a more common, but still stunning, edition, while the black controller seemed like it was going to be much more limited. Either way, considering this is GTA 6 we’re talking about, it was clear that the accessories were going to be a pain to get your hands on. That’s been proven true today as pre-orders for the DualSense controllers went live, as getting either of them has been a nightmare, but not for the reasons you might expect. Hour-Long Queues, Late Pre-Orders, And Missing Stock Plague GTA 6 Controllers Good Luck Getting The Black Variant… Following the announcement of the GTA 6 DualSense controllers, it was confirmed that pre-orders would begin at 10am local time on September 10. That’s today and, in the UK at least, pre-orders have been open for just over an hour now. The white variant appears to be pretty easy to get your hands on, if you know where to look. Very, Currys, Smyths, and Argos all have the white controller in stock as of the time of writing, although that depends on where you live in the UK. Annoyingly, though, Amazon doesn’t even have them up for pre-order yet, despite how long it’s been since they were meant to open. PlayStation Direct also doesn’t have the white controllers listed on its storefront at all. That’s because PlayStation Direct is using a queue system if you want to get either of the controllers, despite the black edition really being the only one worth queuing for. That queue was over an hour long when I first jumped in, which makes it very likely that the black variant is going to be sold out incredibly quickly, as it appears to be only available on PlayStation Direct right now. I managed to get my hands on the white GTA 6 DualSense without much fuss, once I’d realised where it was actually up for pre-order. Even then, server issues made it look unlikely for a little while. For now, the white GTA 6 controller isn’t too much of a bother to get, but the black variant seems like it’s going to be very rare indeed. We’ll have to wait and see how it plays out when pre-orders for the controller go live in the US in a few hours, but I’m betting it’ll be even more of a pain.
