As the most anticipated video game of all time, it’s no surprise that everyone is anxiously waiting to hear more about GTA 6. Since opening pre-orders and giving us a ton of new information more than a month ago, Rockstar has been completely silent about the game, even as we approach the end of the promised summer marketing deadline with nothing to show for it. Despite reliable insiders seeming confident that August is the month that we finally see more of GTA 6, a lot of fans are understandably worried that the lack of any official updates is a sign of another delay. While that’s just a big worry for now, a former Rockstar developer wouldn’t be surprised at all if that’s what ends up happening. Former Rockstar Animator Says Another GTA 6 Delay Isn’t Impossible “I Don’t Think It Would Hurt Them” As reported by Indy100, former Rockstar Games senior animator Mike York, who worked on GTA 5, GTA Online, and Red Dead Redemption 2, recently answered some questions about Grand Theft Auto 6 through covers.com, including one regarding its release date. York was asked about his confidence in a November launch and whether a delay is possible. In response, York said that, based on his previous experience with the studio, Rockstar could “straight up” delay GTA 6 again. York pointed out that Rockstar knows it can do whatever it wants and that people will still wait for the game, so another delay “doesn’t matter”. Basically, if Rockstar feels the game needs to be pushed back, then “they’ll do it”. The former animator went on to say that if Rockstar doesn’t have faith in the final mission or thinks that it needs work, then GTA 6 could very well be delayed by “six more months” and that he wouldn’t be shocked if that ends up being the case. After all, it’s not going to hurt Rockstar, and would more likely just impact Take-Two’s stock again. Of course, it’s worth remembering that this is all a hypothetical based on the silence and fears around GTA 6’s release date. Rockstar and Take-Two seemed very confident in the game launching this November, so I wouldn’t start getting worried until something is officially said when we finally get a new trailer.
