Video footage taken from Balos Beach, on the north-west tip of Crete, showed it inundated with countless visitors. Even as the whole shoreline was filled with tourists, more kept arriving via boat. So many people were on the beach that no one could move. Balos Beach is famed for its turquoise waters and beautiful views, which draw thousands to it every year. Many spots across Greece have been flooded with holidaymakers this summer. Over in Santorini earlier this month, rowdy tourists were seen forming snaking queues through the island's streets. Luiza Parente, a self-described creative director with 8.4million followers on TikTok, shared a video earlier this month revealing the extensive queues she endured for the 'perfect' picture.In the same clip, the Brazilian influencer then shares the glamorous images of her posing dramatically in front of the iconic white and blue architecture.But some users have been far from impressed with the viral videos of the queues, with one proclaiming that 'social media has ruined tourism'.'All this so people can show a posed photo to other people, when they know their real memory of it will be queuing for 2 hours at 7am on holiday for this photo,' one person complained.
