Greater Bengaluru Authority to clean vacant plots at owner’s cost from August 27

Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda will initiate the process of imposing penalties on property owners who have failed to clean their vacant plots despite the deadline under the ‘Freedom from Waste’ campaign starting today (August 27). The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will undertake the cleaning of private vacant plots that remain uncleared, with the cost of the work recovered from property owners through their property tax. The drive will be initiated in Shanthinagar. The campaign was launched by the Minister earlier this month. Owners who failed to comply were warned of penalties ranging from ₹25,900 to ₹1.75 lakh, depending on the size of the plot. Published - August 27, 2026 08:08 am IST
