Sign in to your ScreenRant account Grand Theft Auto 6 isn't coming to PC at launch, following a Rockstar Games tradition of targeting PlayStation and Xbox first. The audience for the game on consoles is already massive, and focusing on platforms without extreme hardware variations makes optimization and QA more straightforward in the crunch leading up to launch. Surprisingly, though, fans might not have to wait all that much longer to play it on their platform of choice. While it took well over a year for Grand Theft Auto 5 to make its way to PC, the latest news suggests that GTA 6 will make the leap much more quickly. According to a new report from GamesBeat, multiple sources have claimed that Rockstar will bring GTA 6 to PC in the first quarter of 2027. Q1 2027 generally refers to the window from January 1 to March 31, theoretically resulting in a gap of only a few months between the game's launch on consoles and PC. In the best case scenario, fans would only be waiting for an extra month and a half, while the worst possibility still be under five months. That being said, there's no official confirmation of this window, and a Rockstar Games representative didn't respond to a request for comment from GamesBeat prior to the article's publication. There's also the possibility that internal plans could shift, so any problems with the PC port could lead to it being pushed out of this allegedly planned release window. No matter how you slice it, though, this seems like an optimistic update. Red Dead Redemption 2, the most recent example of a major Rockstar release, followed GTA 5's path of taking over a year to release on PC. As long as the sources have any kind of legitimacy, the report implies that GTA 6 is following a much more aggressive timeline. Even if it ends up being delayed, it would likely still make it to PC more quickly than previous Rockstar games. This tracks with previous comments by Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive. When asked about PC plans in a recent investor meeting, Zelnick noted that "the PC platform is becoming more and more important" to Take-Two. The PC market has grown significantly over time, so prioritizing the port could mean a bigger boost to overall sales than past GTA releases have seen. If the report is accurate, we may not have to wait too long to get official word on the PC release date. With the console launch just around the corner, though, Rockstar likely won't be commenting on any future plans until after Grand Theft Auto 6 is out for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
