In my entire writing career, I've reviewed more than 75 Android phones. Carrying both a Samsung or Pixel flagship and an iPhone as a daily driver provides me with deep insight into how Android works and how it compares to iOS. I have been writing for Android Police since 2021, covering news, how-tos, and features. Now the company seems ready to launch another wearable that will sit between the Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch: the Fitbit Edge. Unlike the Air, though, the Fitbit Edge will feature a screen but will not run on Wear OS. While the exact specs are unknown, renders shared by Android Headlines show the Fitbit Edge from various angles. It will feature a screen big enough to show the date and time along with three other complications. The report says the wearable will also support Bluetooth notification mirroring and will come with select apps like Google Maps, YouTube Music, and Find My Phone. The tracker will feature elongated physical buttons on both sides. One of them should bring up the app drawer, while the other could provide quick access to certain settings. From the renders, the Fitbit Edge design does not seem interesting. But Google plans to add a bit of spice with its color options, which will include black, green, and orange. There could be more options coming. Plus, Google will likely offer an array of band options in different finishes and colors. It's unclear which health tracking features the Fitbit Edge will offer. However, the renders show a new sensor array on the back that does not seem to match the one on the Fitbit Air. So the Edge could offer health tracking features closer to those of the Pixel Watch than those of its cheaper sibling. A new Fitbit could fill a familiar gap It seems like the Fitbit Edge will replace the Fitbit Charge in Google's wearable lineup. The latter launched in 2023 and is overdue for an upgrade. The Fitbit Edge will supposedly deliver up to 7 days of battery life and work with both Android and iOS devices. There is no word on pricing, but with the Fitbit Air selling for $99, Google could price the Fitbit Edge at $179 or $199. That will enable the wearable to seamlessly fit in Google's wearable lineup, sitting above the Fitbit Air and below the more expensive and capable Pixel Watch family. Google should announce the Fitbit Edge within this month itself, as it would likely want the tracker to hit the store shelves before the upcoming holiday season.
