Google’s Agentic Hotel Booking Tool Comes to AI Mode

Skift Take Google's agentic hotel booking is finally launching in AI Mode, nine months after it was first teased. Skeptics may see it as a redux of the shuttered Book on Google tool, but here's why the company thinks it has a better shot. Google is no longer just sending travelers to hotels and online travel agencies from AI Mode. Now travelers in the U.S. can turn to the search engine’s AI chat to find and book their lodging arrangements as well. The feature, which begins rolling out Thursday, delivers on the hotel side of the agentic travel booking capability Google has been teasing since last November. How that works is no longer a mystery: Consumers can chat to find and compare rooms, make a selection, review cancellation terms, and then pay with Google Pay all in one place. The hotel or OTA still charges the card, sends the confirmation, and offers support. Launch partners include Booking.com, Choice Hotels, Expedia, Hilton, Hotels.com, IHG, Marriott, Priceline, Trip.com, and Wyndham.
