Google Pics Tool Creates Pro-Grade Images for Businesses

Google introduced a creative design and editing tool aimed at business customers.Google Pics, unveiled on Tuesday, is available to Workspace users and is based on the Nano Banana AI image-generating and editing model. It is available as a standalone product and will be integrated into existing apps such as Slides, Docs and Drive, meaning users can edit images in the places where they already work.“While AI image generation has been a huge hit for personal use, it’s been a different story for businesses.” Meg Whittenberger, group product manager, said in a blog post. “Teams have struggled to create professional-grade images for marketing campaigns, customer presentations, and product storytelling, facing inconsistent results, endless trial-and-error prompting, and cumbersome workflows across multiple apps.”The tool works by inviting users to visit pics.new in their browser and either import an image or generate one using a prompt. Pics will then do so and also provide alternatives.Related:Anthropic Joins AI Price War With Release of Fable 5.1By providing what it says is a suite of what Google calls “precision editing tools,” the tool “eliminates the frustration of wrangling pixels and feeling like you need to be a professional designer to deliver a great image,” according to the vendor.While existing design tools such as Canva and Adobe Express are already available, Google Pics differs in that it relies more heavily on AI to generate imagery.Among the tool’s capabilities are the ability to edit individual elements of an image; reformat and translate text; crop for social, web, print and digital; upscale to 2K and 4K; and revert unwanted changes. Also, its integration into familiar Workspace apps offers opportunities for collaboration.Applications that Google says it is particularly well-suited for are creating and translating assets for global campaigns, brainstorming designs for events or merchandise, and creating business cards and flyers.Google Pics is available immediately for those with Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, and Enterprise Plus plans, as well as users with Google AI Pro and Ultra personal plans.
