Google is putting Gemini inside Chrome for Android users in India, it will help you browse faster

Google is making Chrome a little easier to use by introducing Gemini’s auto-browse feature in India. The AI assistant can now do more than just answer questions or summarise a webpage. It can actually navigate websites and handle multi-step tasks for you.The feature is now available on Chrome for desktop and Android in India, but there is a catch. Auto browse is limited to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. At the same time, Gemini in Chrome itself is now available to all Android users in India, following its desktop launch earlier this year.Gemini can browse the web for youSo, what can Gemini actually do? Quite a lot. You can ask it to book parking for an event, fill out a long online form or even order groceries for the week. It can move between webpages and complete multiple steps instead of simply telling you how to do them. For example, imagine you are reading a recipe online and decide to cook it. You can ask Gemini to buy the ingredients from a supported shopping website. The assistant can read the recipe, identify the required items and add them to your cart. You can then review the list before Gemini completes the purchase. And yes, you remain in control of the payment. Gemini asks for confirmation before completing some sensitive actions.Google also says Gemini shows users a plan before starting an auto browse task, including the websites it plans to use and the personal information it may share. Users can take over at any point, while the feature runs in a separate browser tab. Apart from auto browse, Google is also bringing the broader Gemini in Chrome experience to all Android users in India. This means users can ask Gemini questions about the webpage they are viewing, summarise long articles and connect with apps such as Google Calendar and Keep without constantly switching between tabs. The feature also brings Google's Nano Banana image generation and editing capabilities to Chrome. There are limits to how much you can use auto browse. Google AI Pro subscribers get up to 20 tasks a day, while AI Ultra subscribers get up to 200 tasks a day.Google says auto browse has been built with security in mind and its models are trained to detect threats such as prompt injection. The feature is still experimental, however, and Google says users are responsible for what Gemini does while completing a task.- Ends
