2 min readOne down, couple hundred to go. From Politico:Harmeet Dhillon, who led a dramatic overhaul of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, resigned Thursday, one of the first senior officials to leave the Trump administration following Democrats’ blue wave in the midterms. Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed her departure in a statement on social media.I have to admit. "Dramatic overhaul" is an interesting way to spell "Gutting the division's actual purpose," but, we move on. Dhillon was an exemplary lemon foisted on the American people by all the lemons above her in the administration. And she was everything they could have wanted.A staunch ally of President Donald Trump, Dhillon was confirmed to the position in April 2025. Under Dhillon’s leadership, the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division has undergone a major transformation, both critics and allies say. The department has pushed out hundreds of longtime attorneys; ended investigations into police departments over alleged constitutional violations; and sued UCLA and Harvard University for allegedly allowing an antisemitic environment to prevail on their campuses. Lawyers from her office also carried out some DOJ efforts that critics said were political vendettas, such as an unsuccessful attempt to indict former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson over her testimony to the House Jan. 6 committee."Critics" are not the only ones who said Dhillon embarked on political vendettas. Courts and grand juries have pretty much concluded that was the case, too.Plain speaking is one of the mandates we all achieved on Tuesday night. Dhillon was a vicious apparatchik in service to a criminal regime. She was a vital cog in an effort to reestablish the legal infrastructure of white supremacy. And, not to worry, I suspect we'll see her again. In a congressional hearing room. Or three.
Good Riddance, Harmeet Dhillon. You Won’t Be Missed.
