GOLF legend Justin Rose’s six-bedroom mansion next door to Andrew Mountbatton-Windsor’s old Royal Lodge home, is on the market for £3.5million. Documents seen by The Sun show the golfer, 46, and his wife Kate bought the sprawling Georgian property near the gates of the Windsor Park estate in September 2024. In 1998, when Rose was one of Britain’s brightest golf prospects, Rose played a round at Sunningdale with Andrew alongside fellow young golfer Rebecca Hudson. The future Ryder Cup star later met the then prince again when the he launched the Duke of York Champions’ Trophy, an event aimed at helping the country’s most promising juvenile golfers. In 2019, Evans was stopped by Andrew’s security after trying to drive through Windsor Great Park in his 1964 Aston Martin DB5. The presenter had attempted to take a shortcut through the Crown Estate entrance in the vintage car, which is worth around £1.2million. The route would have saved him both time and miles on a journey to a property he was renovating in Ascot, just days after Andrew stepped back from royal duties. Most read in The Sun In April this year, just days after a heart-breaking near-miss at the Masters in Augusta, golfing icon Rose lost a planning battle over proposals to extend the Grade II-listed home in a Grand Designs-style refurbishment. The Ryder Cup star had wanted to demolish part of the 19th-century property to build an “orangery”. Plans also included a new ground-floor kitchen and breakfast room, bar, family area and master bedroom with a secure closet and office. Rose, who is from Hampshire and has two children, appealed the decision. But a Government planning inspector has now upheld the council’s ruling after visiting the property. Documents show the mansion has now been put up for sale with a £3.5million asking price – £150,000 more than he bought it for. The Rose family also own a multi-million-pound home on Surrey’s exclusive Wentworth Estate. Andrew was forced out of Royal Lodge last year after his brother King Charles stripped him of his prince title and dukedom. The 31-room mansion and six cottages in the estate’s grounds have since been left looking like a ghost town. Andrew, 66, handed back his 75-year lease on Royal Lodge to the Crown Estate amid the fallout from the Jeffrey Epstein scandal last year but did not leave until February. He has since moved into Marsh Farm on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, with the property funded by the King. Andrew’s peppercorn-rent deal had previously meant daughters Beatrice and Eugenie were expected to inherit the £30million mansion. Claims Queen Camilla could inherit the property if Charles dies before her have been widely dismissed. Prince William and Princess Kate are also not interested in moving in after securing a 20-year lease on nearby Forest Lodge. Andrew, who was once the UK’s trade envoy, was arrested at Marsh Farm on February 19 – his birthday – by Thames Valley Police on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Detectives then searched both his Sandringham home and his former Windsor residence, Royal Lodge. Police have been investigating claims Andrew leaked Government information to his paedophile financier associate Jeffrey Epstein, who died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Andrew has denied any wrongdoing. The investigation is continuing, with detectives now expected to travel to the US to speak to the family of his accuser Virginia Giuffre. Giuffre, who took her own life last year aged 41, received a multi-million-pound payout from Andrew in an out-of-court settlement in 2022. He did not admit any liability. Andrew was stripped of his royal titles last year. The Sun has approached Justin Rose for comment.
