GOG is finally bringing its all-in-one Galaxy launcher to Linux

A few months ago, Good Old Games (GOG) said that it was planning to bring its all-in-one Galaxy launcher to Linux, which, given the rise of gaming with the operating system over the past few years, makes a lot of sense. Now, GOG has confirmed that it is actively working towards getting GOG Galaxy running on Linux. GOG already supports Linux through its web store, including Linux downloads for games that support the OS. However, it has never supported GOG Galaxy on Linux. In an email to GamingOnLinux, GOG co-CEO Krzysztof Papliński said that "Linux continues to be one of the topics we hear the most about from our community, and we really appreciate the passion and patience of everyone who's been asking about it. Papliński went on to explain that GOG now has a Linux specialist on its team and that it's "actively exploring the best way to approach Linux support for GOG Galaxy." This is a significant undertaking, so while we're not ready to share any specific plans, timelines, or results just yet, it's very much an area we're investing time and effort into," said Papliński. It's unclear when GOG Galaxy will drop on Linux The launcher allows users to access all their PC games from one app Credit: GOG Right now, there's no timeline for when GOG Galaxy will land on Linux, so it's unclear whether we're looking at a few weeks or a couple of months. That said, when GOG Galaxy does drop, it could quickly become the go-to way for Linux gamers to organize their game library better, allowing them to easily connect to various other stores and launchers, including Steam, in one location, similar to the Xbox app. GOG Galaxy also includes features like cloud save syncing, automatic updates, playtime tracking, and more. In late 2025, Good Old Games' original founder Michał Kiciński bought the company back from video game publisher and developer CD Projekt Red, allowing it to shift back to its focus on more niche video games to better compete with Valve's Steam. Along with a focus on retro PC titles, GOG also sells modern digital video games, all with an emphasis on avoiding pushing DRM on buyers.
