GODZILLA star Kaylee Hottle’s cause of death has been revealed after the 18-year-old was killed in a horrific car accident in Maryland early on Tuesday morning. The Fredrick County Sheriff’s Department in Maryland recently confirmed Kaylee was one of two passengers in a car involved in a fatal early morning accident on Tuesday. Sign up for the Showbiz newsletter Thank you! According to the sheriff, the car she was a passenger in veered off the road at high speed and crashed into a ditch around 3 am on July 21. Audio from dispatchers revealed that first responders scrambled to find an American Sign Language interpreter to bring to the scene. “This is a result of a vehicle accident, patient is unconscious,” the dispatcher said. First responders did everything they could to save Kaylee after finding her unresponsive, but her heart reportedly stopped on the way to the trauma center. Both an ambulance and a medevac helicopter were rushed to the scene to transport the young actress, but she was tragically pronounced dead upon arrival. The two other people traveling with her in the car survived the crash. The 19-year-old driver from Frederick was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the second passenger turned down medical care. Police noted that the incident is still actively being investigated and that no arrests have been made as of Wednesday afternoon. Kaylee’s father Joshua,went on Facebook Live to share the heartbreaking moment he found out about his daughter’s passing. “I am taking a flight that I never would like to take,” he captioned the video, explaining that he was flying in from Texas to Maryland to bring his daughter home. Using American Sign Language, Joshua shared that officials called to tell him her heart had stopped just moments after he first learned about the crash. Kaylee was widely recognized for playing Jia in the MonsterVerse films, where her character used sign language to connect with Kong. She made her debut in 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong and returned for the 2024 sequel, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, a performance that earned her a Saturn Award nomination. Her co-star Millie Bobby Brown shared her grief online Tuesday afternoon. “I’m so devastated to hear this. You will be deeply missed Kaylee,” the actress posted to Instagram.
