The 2023 movie serves as a reboot of the franchise, focusing on a World War II veteran, Kōichi Shikishima, and his survivor's guilt as a kamikaze pilot. Godzilla Minus One earned critical acclaim, with many professing it to be the best movie in the franchise. It will also be the first major Godzilla movie made by Toho to see him go to New York City. The Blu-ray release and the sequel's upcoming theatrical debut comes as Godzilla begins starring in more media.
