God Of War Laufey's CE Is Getting Roasted, But Not Because It Doesn't Include The Game Published Oct 15, 2026, 6:15 AM EDT Josh Coulson is an editor at TheGamer covering breaking news on everything from colorful platformers to the latest Lego sets. Primarily a news writer since 2018, Josh has covered just about every major game from the past decade. Now an editor, their focus has shifted to being the leading affiliate expert at the site, building relationships between TheGamer and global brands including Mattel, Funko, and The Pokemon Company. Sign in to your TheGamer account PlayStation’s next big first-party release will be God of War Laufey, which arrives exclusively on PS5 on February 16, 2027. That game now has a collector’s box, and even though people are peeved that it doesn’t include the game, it’s something it does include that some people have a bigger problem with. What's Going On With That Statue? The $150 Laufey collector’s box includes an artbook and a 51-card Oracle Deck. No issues with those items, and the cards appear to be the leading reason why God of War fans might be willing to part with so much money for something that’s a companion piece to the next game in the series rather than something that includes a copy of it. There’s also a statue in there. Typically, the statue is the centerpiece of a collector’s edition. That is the case here, but its design leaves a lot to be desired. Fans have been zooming in on the statue to check out its quality and find out how detailed it is. Unfortunately, in doing so, they’ve been left disappointed. The statue features Faye mid-battle with a couple of afterlife enemies, but it doesn’t look like nearly enough effort has gone into making sure the Faye statue actually looks all that much like the character, who is played by Daredevil’s Deborah Ann Woll. God Of War Fans Poke Fun At Laufey's Statue PlayStation I wondered why the images on the collector’s box’s store page didn’t initially include a close-up of the statue, and now I know why. “It doesn’t even look like her,” one fan writes on Twitter, sharing a better look at the statue. “They can’t keep getting away with this,” reads another reaction, with a close-up of statue Faye’s face, which only hurts its case for being worth $150 even further. That same post compares Laufey’s statue to the one that was part of the Metal Gear Solid Delta collector’s edition. A slightly different, even worse situation, as that was effectively a case of false advertising. In promotional images of the statue, Snake was always looking down. It wasn’t until Metal Gear fans had their Snakes in hand that they realised just how poor the quality of the statue was. At least in Laufey’s case, fans are being shown the statue in detail before they drop $150 on it, even though, again, the official images on the store page have likely been taken from a distance for this very reason. There is also a chance that, unlike the Snake statue, Faye’s collectible ends up looking better in person than it does in these pictures. There’s no evidence suggesting the images don’t show the final product, but that might be the case with the final, better-looking statue being the one that’s actually a part of the collector’s box.
