GNU Wget 2.3 Released With --progress=dot, OS/2 Improvements

GNU Wget2 is up to version 2.3 today with the first new release of 2026 for this popular command-line tool for non-interactive file downloading and being able to easily fetch website contents. One of the user visible changes of Wget 2.3 is now supporting --progress=dot for those preferring a text-based dot-styled display as an alternative to the default thermometer bar style display. Wget 2.3 also improved its build system and configuration process as well as refining the project's documentation. Wget 2.3 also improved its OS/2 operating system support with porting over ANSI escape codes, supporting dynamic loading, using DOS-like path styles, properly exporting symbols, and hooking up other functionality for that OS. Wget2 has also fixed handling of different arguments, truncating of filenames if too long, supporting srcdoc on iframes, and fixing several memory leaks.
