Glen Hansard’s Public Wake and Funeral Details Announced

Glen Hansard’s family has shared details of the public memorial arrangements scheduled to take place in Dublin following the musician’s death earlier this week. A public wake will be held at the Baroque Chapel at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, located at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin 8, on Monday, August 3rd, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Hansard will lie in repose during that time for members of the public wishing to pay their respects. His funeral will take place at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin on Tuesday, August 4th, at 1:30 p.m. The service will be open to the public, though access inside the cathedral is expected to be extremely limited due to the number of mourners anticipated. Music at the funeral will be provided by Hansard’s friends and family. A public address system will be set up outside the cathedral for those unable to enter. The funeral will also be streamed online through RTÉ News and RIP.ie. In lieu of flowers or gifts, Hansard’s family has asked that donations be made to the Simon Community and Ukrainian Action.
