Girl, 2, dies after being pulled from neighbour’s swimming pool as devastated family mourn ‘unimaginable tragedy’

The child was found in a pool by paramedics at Pine Trace Court, in the Atascocita South area of Harris County but it remains unclear how she ended up there. Just a few minutes later the family checked the garden next door because they knew there was an open swimming pool. Unfortunately when they reached the pool, the girl was submerged in the water. Her family repeatedly attempted CPR whilst waiting for emergency services to arrive. The pool was reportedly in the backyard of a vacant home that was being remodelled. Constable Mark Herman shared on social media that authorities responded to reports of a child found in a pool around 6pm on Friday afternoon. Authorities closed the West Lake Houston Parkway, near FM 1960, to allow a Life Flight helicopter to land safely and rush the toddler to Memorial Hermann Hospital. Despite doctors working tirelessly to administer life-saving treatment, the child sadly died several hours later. Herman wrote on X: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic update that the 2-year-old child has been pronounced deceased following an incident…where the child was found in a swimming pool. “This is an unimaginable tragedy, and our hearts are with this child’s family during this incredibly difficult time. “We ask our community to keep the family, loved ones and everyone affected by this heartbreaking loss in their thoughts and prayers.” Harris County officials have not publicly identified the 2-year-old.
